I have talked to people who believe Bryan Murray is set to trade Antoine Vermette. The climax is now, he’s only scored 2 goals in 22 games and has had an abundance of chances to score. Our scoring is tied for the worst in the league and part of the problem is our secondary scoring such as Vermette. I don’t know if he’s gonna be involved in a bigger trade for a puck-moving defenseman or just a straight swap for a second-line centre.
Vermette has seen his stock plummet faster than Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and it really shows [...]

The injuries are piling up, but maybe this is a good sign for the Sens. Chris Neil, Dean McAmmond, Shean Donovan, Ryan Shannon, and Alex Picard will not be on the ice tonight when they face the ever-elusive New York Islanders. Alex Auld will get the start. Here are the lines:
Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson, Vermette-Kelly-Winchester, Ruutu-Fisher-Foligno, Schubert-Bass- Z. Smith
Phillips-Volchenkov, Kuba-Bell, J.Smith-Lee
The Sens need to do what the Isles did to them in the previous 2 games, win the little battles on the boards and on Centre Ice and they have a shot to win. I see Jesse Winchester being big in this game. [...]
Should a biggie tonight, especially since the Sens almost never play on Thursdays. Mike Fisher draws back in the lineup, while Dean McAmmond draws out due to a cold. I would guess Ryan Shannon will take his place, given that Hartsburg is hesitant of giving Christoph Schubert a forward chance.
If you haven’t heard already, Luke Richardson has been waived. I kinda saw this coming, and I thought is was a dumb idea for Murray to bring him back in the offseason. The question now is, is this the beginning to a trade or signing? The Sens now have a [...]
After snapping our 6-game losing streak yesterday with a 4-1 win, Sens fans are loving the new duds. Whether it’s either the look or the fact they won us a game, we are really loving those jerseys!
I talked to someone who said Coach Hartsburg will put Auld in on Thursday against the Leafs and finally start Gerber on Saturday against the Islanders.
Rumours have churned down and really the only 2 players who might be traded this season will be Antoine Vermette or Christoph Schubert. Schubert hasn’t been himself this year and with Brendan Bell playing solid, it might be [...]
Sens All-Star Voting so far
So All-Star Voting is off to a quick start, and whether it’s from the rumoured robot from Montreal to the Rory Fitzpatrick this year, it’s been awesome. Here now, I display some statistics for all Sens players. We might find some surprises. I am basing this on today’s lineup against the Rangers.
First Line
Dany Heatley-20,217 votes
Daniel Alfredsson-18,386 votes
Jason Spezza-9,748 votes
So this was easily our top vote-getter. Heatley leads the pack but he along with El Captino have a long way to enter the Top 3. Jason Speeza is a tad bit disappointing for me, must be the hate mail he’s getting [...]
Bryan Murray isn’t happy. Craig Hartsburg isn’t happy. Anyone who says they are on short leash is a piece of windbag. None of this is their fault. The reason why the Ottawa Senators, who were 3 games away from winning the Stanley Cup, are in the midst of a 6 game losing streak, is because this team has no secondary scoring. This team has relied way too much on the Pizza line and when things go bad, Spezza and Heatley are always the whipping boys. Why notAntoine Vermette? He is supposed to be our secondary scorer, he is supposed to [...]
Proposed Trades
If I were GM of the Sens, I would make 2 moves. I have heard that one of the trades I will mention is inquiring interest from Bryan Murray. Before I do this post, I’d like to say that Eugene Melnyk will give a vote of confidence to Bryan Murray mostly because of the Burke rumours lingering around the past days. Here we go.
First, I would trade Christoph Scubert and a 6th round pick for Mark StreitMark Streit is an amazing Power Play QB, he demonstrated that yesterday. With the Islanders filled with offensive defenseman and in need of hit-mongers, [...]
We all know Dany Heatley was looking forward too it. Well, it won’t happen. The Sens lost the home-and-home series against the Isles. They almost came back and if they had done the same thing in the 2nd period, they actually would have won.
Alex Auld played ok, probably the weakest game this year. He made some key saves in key moments, but I think the 1st goal was a combination of Auld not being in position and the defense of Ottawa coming up with a lacklustre performance. Chris Campoli’s goal was almost caught by Auld and really someone should [...]
