The Ottawa Senators are a few hours away from hosting the Edmonton Oilers at 7 p.m. ET on Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Canadian Tire Centre. Tonight is the first of four consecutive games at home for the Senators.

Through 17 games of the 2024-25 season, the Senators have an 8-8-1 record. Earlier this month, Bleacher Report labeled the Senators first month of the season as "decent."

Even with having a "decent" start, head coach Travis Green still believes in his Senators by saying if they continue to play the way they've been playing for the next 10 games, they can be over .500. According to one person, there is one song that sums up the Senators' first month of the season.

"Follow Through by Gavin DeGraw sums up first month of Senators 2024-25 season

Earlier today, Bleacher Report's Sara Civian wrote an article titled "1 Song to Sum Up Every NHL Team's 2024-25 Season So Far." For the Senators' song, Civian chose "Follow Through" by Gavin DeGraw.

And I, all I really want you

You to stick around

I'll see you every day

But you have to follow through

Those were the lyrics to the song that Civian specifically chose from.

For those who don't know who DeGraw might be, he is a pop artist from South Fallsburg, New York. DeGraw released his first album "Chariot" in 2003. "Follow Through" is the opening track to the album. The song's music video has over 6.1 million views on YouTube.

"But, you have to follow through" might be powerful lyrics to the Senators. If the Senators are going to snap their seven-year playoff drought, they have to follow through and be able to win when it matters with their talented players.

Tim Stutzle, Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson are each having career years to start the season, but the Senators have been needing to get more from their newly acquired goaltender Linus Ullmark. In the first month of his Senators tenure, Ullmark has been incosistent by allowing in five goals in three different games this season.

If the Senators are going to turn their season around, tonight's game against the Oilers has more meaning. The Senators might be catching the Oilers at the right time as they are concluding their set of a back-to-back. The Senators' offense needs to start heating up after getting shutout in their last game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. Saturday's loss was the first time this season the Senators were shutout.
