On May 1, 2025, the Ottawa Senators had their 2024-25 season come to an end when they were eliminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs in six games. After the Game 6 loss, the 2025 off-season officially started.

In the off-season, the Senators concluded their 2025 draft, re-signed, lost and acquired new players. General manager Steve Staios has constructed a roster eager to compete for a playoff spot for the second consecutive season.

It has been exactly four months since the Senators last played a game. Now, with the month changing, it can mean one thing for the Senators.

Hockey will return in September, four preseason games on Senators schedule this month

With September finally arriving today, it means that Senators hockey will be played this month. It will start during the preseason before the season opener on Oct. 9 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In September, the Senators have four preseason games scheduled. Two games will be against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and one will be against the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens.

Preseason schedule for Senators in September:

Sept. 21 vs Maple Leafs

Sept. 23 @ Maple Leafs

Sept. 28 vs Devils (Quebec City)

Sept. 30 vs Canadiens (Quebec City)

In a twist, the Senators will begin the 2025 Preseason against the team that eliminated them from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 1 with a home-and-home in Ottawa and Toronto. It will be two games over a three-day span before having another two games in a three-day span.

After the Sept. 23 game, the Senators will head to Quebec City for two games against the Devils and Canadiens. Both games will be played at Videotron Centre in a neutral site, but the Senators will be the designated home team for each game.

After September, the Senators have two more preseason games with both being on the road. The first one is scheduled on Oct. 2 against the St. Louis Blues and the second one is scheduled on Oct. 4 against the Canadiens.
