Through three games in their first home stand of 2025-26, the Ottawa Senators are 1-1-1. Tonight, the fourth and final game of the first home stand of the season awaits against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Through seven games, the Senators are off to a tough start, but have a chance to turn it around against a team they fared well against last season.
Senators host Flyers in first meeting of 2025-26
The Senators host the Flyers at Canadian Tire with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop.
In the Senators' last game on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers, the team lost a tough 3-2 game in overtime, but the team showed heart and toughness. After trailing 2-0 after two periods, Dylan Cozens and Thomas Chabot each scored a goal in a span of 1:36 early into the third period to tie the game. Linus Ullmark was better with making 22 saves after allowing in five goals in his previous start this past Saturday against the New York Islanders.
Even with the tough overtime loss and falling to 2-4-1 on the season, earning one point against a team like the Oilers can be used as a step in the right direction that the Senators will hope can carry over into tonight's game.
For the Flyers, they have a 3-2-1 overall record early into the season. The Flyers are rested for tonight's game after not playing since Monday night when they earned a 5-2 win against the Seattle Kraken at home in their last game.
Flyers captain Sean Couturier leads the team with five assists and seven points. Owen Tippett leads the Flyers with five goals. Goaltender Dan Vladar is off to a hot start so far in goal with winning three of his first four starts while posting a 1.65 GAA and .929 save percentage
Last season, the Senators fared well against the Flyers. The Senators earned five of a possible six points in three meetings. In the last meeting between the two teams last season on April 13, Tim Stutzle scored an overtime winner on a powerplay.
