After a Tuesday night's 5-1 ugly loss against the Buffalo Sabres, the Ottawa Senators are right back to work against the New York Islanders.
Road struggles are obvious again for the Senators as they have a 1-5-0 record, but the Senators return home where they are clearly more comfortable playing.
Senators return to CTC to host Islanders
The Senators host the Islanders at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The Senators lost the season series 1-2-0 against the Islanders last season, but are comfortable with having a 5-1-0 home record this season.
Tuesday night had nothing go right for the Senators other than Ridly Greig scoring his second goal of the season and Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle remaining hot with recording the assists on Greig's goal. Tkachuk has now recorded points in 11 of the Senators' 12 games this season.
As for the Islanders, they enter tonight having won two of their last three games to have a 5-6-2 record. The Islanders won their last game 4-3 in a shootout at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kyle Palmieri leads the Islanders with six goals and 11 points. Other than Palmieri, no other Islander has over 10 points on the season. In another twist, Islanders rookie Maxim Tsyplakov leads the team with six assists.
Both the Senators are Islanders each have 12 points in the NHL standings. With both teams being one point behind the Detroit Red Wings for the second Wild Card spot, tonight's game adds more drama to it.
