The Ottawa Senators could be looking to add some scoring help, as general manager Steve Staios reportedly explores the trade market for a forward.
According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen, Staios is looking at potential options to improve Ottawa's offence. It is not clear whether a deal is close, but the report suggests the Senators are looking at ways to improve their roster.
Senators could use more scoring help
Ottawa has plenty of talent up front, but adding another scoring threat could give the team a boost. Having more options offensively would also give head coach Travis Green some flexibility when it comes to building his lineup.

The Senators have dealt with injuries early in the season, making forward depth even more important. While adding a depth player would help, finding someone who can contribute offensively could make a bigger difference as Ottawa looks to remain competitive.
Of course, exploring the trade market does not mean a deal is guaranteed. Teams are still evaluating their rosters this early in the season, and it can be difficult to find the right fit at the right price. Staios will need to decide whether there is a player available who can make a real difference without costing the Senators too much in return.
Will Ottawa make a move?
For now, there is no guarantee the Senators will pull the trigger on a trade. Simply looking at the market could be part of the team's process as it evaluates what it needs moving forward. The report is worth watching. Especially with all the injuries that the club is dealing with, it makes sense why they'd be considering a trade for another forward.
Right now, they are without Warren Foegele and William Eklund, who are both out. Plus, Andre Burakovsky has been struggling to start the season; it definitely opens the door for a trade.
As per Garrioch, the Senators are checking in with a number of teams.
""Names circulating around the market include Chicago Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teräväinen, Detroit Red Wings forwards Andrew Copp and Michael Rasmussen, along with Michael Eyssimont, who was recently assigned to the American Hockey League by the Boston Bruins.
None of those names are anything to get excited about.
The Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins are considered open for business, but those clubs are looking for hockey trades and expect meaningful assets in return.""
It'll be interesting to see what Staios does, if he stands pat or makes a move, and who it'll be for.
