The Ottawa Senators concluded their final back-to-back of the 2024-25 season this past Sunday against the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 4-0 shutout win. Now, the final road game of the Senators' season will be against the same team from Sunday.
Tonight will be the third meeting in 10 days between the Senators and Blue Jackets. Tonight can also be an emotional and exciting night in Senators history.
Rematch from Sunday takes place in Columbus
The Senators travel to Nationwide Arena to take on the Blue Jackets with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Sunday saw a lot go right for the Senators. From Adam Gaudette scoring to end a 23-game goal drought, to Nikolas Matinpalo scoring his first NHL goal and to Linus Ullmark recording a 29-save shutout for the Senators to earn back-to-back shutout wins.
Columbus fell to 34-33-9 with the loss on Sunday. Ullmark has made a combined 57 saves in his two starts against Columbus this season. Columbus still is not out of the playoff race, but trail the Montreal Canadiens by eight points for the second Wild Card spot.
The Senators got help last night with the New York Rangers losing in regulation to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
If the Senators beat the Blue Jackets or if the Montreal Canadiens fall to the Detroit Red Wings, the Senators will clinch a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Senators can still get in even if they lost to the Blue Jackets and the Red Wings still win. The long wait since 2017 for Sens fans could be over to get back in the playoffs.
With the Rangers loss tonight, the Sens can also back-door their way into a playoff clincher Tuesday night.

Even if they lose to Columbus, Ottawa is in if Detroit falls in Montreal
