Senators hit the road for the first time this season against Canadiens
The Ottawa Senators began their 2024-25 season off strong with a 3-1 win against the defending champion Florida Panthers on Thursday night. The Senators faithful is optimistic after earning an impressive victory. Now, it's time to improve on an area the Senators struggled with last season in the second game of the season.
Last season, the Senators played poorly on the road finishing with a 16-23-2 record. The Senators will play their first road game of the season against the Montreal Canadiens, but the Senators are comfortable with playing on the road against the Canadiens from last season's success.
Senators play Canadiens in Montreal in second game of the season
The Senators travel to Montreal, Quebec, to play the Canadiens at Bell Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Despite a season of struggles last season, the Senators had success against the Canadiens. The Senators swept their three-game season series against the Canadiens. One of the three wins against the Canadiens came in Montreal. Captain Brady Tkachuk ended up scoring three goals against the Canadiens.
The Senators are looking to build off their strong opening night win against the Panthers. Tim Stutzle scored two goals in the win and needs four goals to break the Senators' goal record before turning 23 years old. Shane Pinto scored the game winning goal in the Senators' win, and Linus Ullmark made 30 saves in the win.
As for the Canadiens, they enter tonight's game with a 1-1-0 record. The Canadiens dropped their last game on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins 6-4 in Beantown. On the season, Brendan Gallagher and Cole Caufield each have two goals.
If the Senators are going to have success this season, they need to be a better road team. Having the second game of the season against an arch rival is a good test for the Senators in just the second game of the season. The Senators are riding high on their confidence with being 1-0-0 into Montreal.
