Senators hit the road again for one game to face Penguins

After going 4-4-1 on their nine-game road trip, the Ottawa Senators returned home on Thursday night after 26 days for one game to face the Buffalo Sabres. The Senators would suffer a dreadful 4-0 loss against the Sabres to drop to 19-18-3 on the season.

Now, it's back on the road for the Senators as they travel to the Steel City to face the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second time this season. The Senators hope the second meeting goes exactly like the first meeting did.

Senators play Penguins for second time this season in Pittsburgh

The Senators travel to PPG Paints Arena to take on the Penguins with puck drop scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

Thursday night saw nothing go right for the Senators. Jack Quinn scored two goals in the first period for the Sabres in a three-minute span to set the tone early. Anton Forsberg allowed in four goals on 21 shots on goal to earn his seventh loss over his last eight starts. Thursday was the second time in four games the Senators were shutout in 2025.

As for the Penguins, they come into tonight's game with an 18-17-8 record record. In the Penguins' last game on Thursday night, they snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 at home.

Sidney Crosby leads the Penguins with 35 assists and 47 points. Crosby recorded a three-point game on Thursday against the Oilers. Rickard Rakall leads the Penguins with 21 goals this season.

In the first meeting between the Senators and Penguins on Dec. 14 in Ottawa, the Senators earned a big 3-2 overtime win. Brady Tkachuk scored the overtime winner to give the Senators the win. Thomas Chabot recorded scored a goal and recorded an assist in the win as well.
