Senators have 3 prime trade targets on the Canucks

The Ottawa Senators should be looking to make multiple additions to their roster this offseason. After being swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, it is clear that the Senators need more talent.

One way that the Senators could look to improve their roster is through the trade market. When looking at potential trading partners for the Senators, the Vancouver Canucks stand out in a major way.

With the Canucks rebuilding, several of their players have come up in the rumor mill already this offseason. Due to this, the Senators should strongly consider targeting Brock Boeser, Jake DeBrusk, and Filip Hronek from the Canucks.

With the Senators needing another top-six winger, landing Boeser or DeBrusk would be huge for them. Boeser would be the bigger prize of the two, as the former 40-goal scorer is capable of performing like a star when playing at his best. However, DeBrusk would still be a strong pickup for the Senators, as he consistently scores over 20 goals per season.

When it comes to Hronek, he would give the right side of the Senators' blueline a major boost. When noting that the Senators are in need of a star right-shot defenseman, Hronek is exactly the kind of blueliner they should make a real push for. He would immediately become their top right-shot defenseman if acquired, as he works in all situations and provides strong offence from the point.

Boeser, DeBrusk & Hronek would all be long-term additions for the Senators

Another very appealing aspect about Boeser, DeBrusk, and Hronek is that they are all locked up for multiple seasons. Because of this, they would be far more than just one-year rentals if the Senators acquired them this offseason.

Boeser and Hronek are both signed through the 2031-32 season, where they each carry a $7.25 million cap hit. DeBrusk has a reasonable $5.5 million cap until the end of the 2030-31 campaign. With this, if the Senators landed any of these three from Vancouver, they would become long-term parts of their core.
