Senators have a fascinating free agent target in this Bruins sniper

The Senators should strongly consider pursuing Bruins forward Viktor Arvidsson if he tests free agency.

The Ottawa Senators should be looking to add some new players to their roster through free agency this offseason. After being swept in the first round by the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, it is clear that the Senators are still far away from being top contenders in the NHL.

One need that the Senators should be aiming to address this summer is their secondary scoring. They could use another winger who will provide them with more offence in their middle six. When looking at this year's pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs), Boston Bruins forward Viktor Arvidsson stands out as a fascinating option for the Senators to consider.

Arvidsson just put together a strong season for the Bruins in 2025-26. In 69 games with the Original Six club this campaign, the 5-foot-10 winger posted 25 goals, 29 assists, 59 points, and a plus-20 rating in 69 games. With numbers like these, he demonstrated that he can still make a real impact offensively. The Senators would be wise to pursue him if he hits the free agent market on July 1 because of it.

When looking at the Senators' lineup, Arvidsson could slot nicely on their second line with Brady Tkachuk and Dylan Cozens if signed. Yet, he could also be effective in a third-line role for the Senators if they want to spread out their scoring a bit more. He would also be a clear option for Ottawa's power play if they successfully signed him.

The one concern with the Senators potentially signing Arvidsson

While Arvidsson stands out as a nice potential for the Senators, signing him would come with some risk for Ottawa. At 33 years old, he is a candidate to regress. He also notably struggled with the Edmonton Oilers in 2024-25, posting just 27 points in 67 games.

Due to this, if the Senators were to sign Arvidsson, a short-term deal would probably be the best avenue. While this is the case, he would have the potential to be a strong pickup for a Senators club that needs more offence and skill. Let's see if they target the Bruins forward from here.
