As the final Sunday of October arrives, the Ottawa Senators are closing out their three-game West Coast road trip, and are playing their final road game of the month.

On the road trip, the Senators are 1-1-0 and now have a tough game against the Colorado Avalanche. To make it more tough, the Senators haven't fared well lately against the Avalanche.

The Senators travel to Ball Arena to play the Avalanche at 9 p.m. ET. Heading into tonight, the Senators have lost seven of their last eight games against the Avalanche.

In the Senators' previous game on Friday night against the Vegas Golden Knights, it was a brutal loss that the team needs to forget about. With holding a 4-3 lead in the final minutes of the game, the Golden Knights scored three goals in a 1:25 span to win the game 6-4.

Linus Ullmark's return went rough with allowing in five goals, and nine Senators had a negative rating in the game. Jake Sanderson had the worst rating of -4 and his defense partner Travis Hamonic had a -3 rating.

Despite the loss, Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux each remained hot with scoring a goal, and the Senators got a surprising game from Adam Gaudette who scored two goals in the game. It was the first time Gaudette scored a goal since February 2022 and his first two-goal game since November 2019.

As for the Avalanche, they started the season rough with losing their first four games of the season, but have won the past four consecutive games with the past three games being on the road. To no surprise, Colorado's big three of Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen are at it again as each of them have double digit points this season. Ross Colton has been a great surprise and leads Colorado with seven goals.

Last season, the Senators were swept by the Avalanche in the season series with allowing 13 goals in the two games played.
