After winning 3-1 last night against the Nashville Predators, the Ottawa Senators have won the first two games of their four-game home stand to improve to 12-12-2. Today, the Senators will conclude a back-to-back.
With the New York Islanders now coming into town, today's game adds pressure with the Islanders being one point ahead of the Senators in the Eastern Conference.
Senators host Islanders to continue home stand
The Senators host the Islanders at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Tonight is the second of three meetings between the two teams.
Against the Predators last night, the Senators earned another big win. Linus Ullmark shined with making 37 saves to earn the win. Jacob Bernard-Docker, Claude Giroux and Nick Cousins scored the goals for the Senators. Tim Stutzle recorded two assists as well.
As for the Islanders, they also come into today on a back-to-back. The Islanders earned a 4-3 win yesterday at home against the Carolina Hurricanes to improve to 10-11-7, but have lost five of their last seven games.
Anders Lee leads the Islanders with 11 goals and 21 points. Kyle Palmieri and Bo Horvat are tied for the second most points on the Islanders with 20. Horvat also leads the Islanders with 14 assists.
In the first meeting between the two teams on Nov. 7 in Ottawa, the Islanders defeated the Senators 4-2. The Senators at one point did trail 3-0 before scoring two goals in the third to make it a one-goal game, but it was too little too late. Anton Forsberg made 21 saves in the loss, and Horvat recorded three points.
