Senators continue home stand against struggling Golden Knights
For the first time this season, the Ottawa Senators are on a three-game losing streak. The Senators fell 5-2 against the Edmonton Oilers in their last game on Tuesday night to fall to 8-9-1 as they began a four-game home stand.
Even though the Vegas Golden Knights have been struggling lately, the Senators' home stand doesn't get much easier against a tough Western Conference opponent year in and year out. However, it's another opportunity to see how good the Senators can be this season, and the Senators need to turn their season around quickly.
Senators meet Golden Knights for the second time in four weeks
The Senators host the Golden Knights at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET. Tonight is the second and final meeting between the two teams. When the two teams played each other on Oct. 25 in Vegas, the Senators had a 4-3 late in the third period, then allowed three goals in a 1:25 span to lose the game 6-4.
On Tuesday night, concerns surrounding Linus Ullmark grew deeply after he allowed in five goals for the second consecutive start. It was the fourth time in 10 starts in which Ullmark allowed in five goals.
On a positive note from Tuesday, Tim Stutzle recorded his 99th career goal and Josh Norris' hot season continued with scoring his eighth goal of the season. Nick Jensen also recorded two assists.
Even with recent struggles of losing four of their last six games, the Golden Knights come into tonight's game in first place in the Pacific Division with an 11-6-2 record. The Golden Knights' most recent game was a 3-0 shutout loss last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
To nobody's surprise, Jack Eichel has been dominate again for the Golden Knights with leading the team with 23 assists and 28 points. Outside of Eichel, the Golden Knights have seven other players with 10 points or more on their team. Pavel Dorofeyev has been a big surprise for the Golden Knights this season with leading the team with nine goals.
The Senators need to avoid a repeat of what happened in their last game. The Oilers fell 3-0 in their game before beating the Senators 5-2 on Tuesday on a conclusion of a back-to-back. With the Golden Knights losing 3-0 last night, it offers as another chance for the Golden Knights to have a repeat of what the Oilers did and defeat the Senators on the conclusion of a back-to-back.
With both teams coming into tonight's game cold, it offers as a big game in November already with how tight the standings in both conferences are.
