Tuesday night saw another rinse and repeat performance for the Ottawa Senators against the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo. The Senators fell 3-2 to the Sabres to fall to 0-3-0 against the Sabres this season. Now, a team behind the Senators in the playoff race awaits next, the Detroit Red Wings.
The Senators are ahead of the Red Wings by seven points with currently having 79 points in the Eastern Conference standings, but all three previous game between the two teams have been tough games.

The Senators travel to Little Caesars Arena for a clash against the Red Wings with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Last game against the Sabres resulted in another loss, but it was the best game the Senators played against the Sabres all season. The other two losses were decided by four goals.
Brady Tkachuk and David Perron each scored a powerplay goal, but the Sabres scored two unanswered goals to win the game. Ex-Senator Jacob Bernard-Docker was one of the three Buffalo players to score a goal. In the loss, Anton Forsberg made 21 saves.
As for the Red Wings, they come into tonight's game with a 33-22-6 record, good for 72 points on the season. Just like the Senators, the Red Wings come in having lost three of their last four games with all three losses being in regulation. The Red Wings trail the Montreal Canadiens by three points for the second Wild Card spot.
Lucas Raymond leads the Red Wings with 70 points and 46 assists. Ex-Senator Alex DeBrincat leads the Red Wings with 33 goals and is third on the team with 61 points. Dylan Larkin is second on the Red Wings with 28 goals, 34 assists and 62 points.
In the last meeting between the Senators and Red Wings on March 10 in Ottawa, the Senators earned a pivotal 2-1 win. Dylan Cozens scored his first goal as a Senator and the go-ahead goal with 5:16 remaining to give the Senators a late 2-1 lead. Linus Ullmark finished the game with making 48 saves.
However, in the first meeting between the two teams in Detroit on Jan. 7, the Red Wings won 3-2 in overtime. Patrick Kane scored the overtime winner for Detroit.
