The Ottawa Senators began their existence in the 1992-93 season. Since 1992, the Senators have had many successful players play for the franchise.

Some often debate who are the greatest Senators above them all. While the franchise has had four jersey numbers retired, the franchise still has had talented forwards play for the franchise.

Sorting out the best forwards of the best might be hard to do. However, one writer recently published an article revealing who is the best forwards of the Senators. Putting together four Senator forwards on a Mount Rushmore can be tough to choose from, but a Mount Rushmore was recently made.

Ottawa Senators Mount Rushmore of forwards since 1990 revealed

Bleacher Report's Lyle Richardson published an article today titled "Every NHL Franchise's Mount Rushmore of Forwards Since 1990." For the Senators' Mount Rushmore, Richardson put Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, Brady Tkachuk and Marian Hossa on it.

At first glance, it's an impressive Mount Rushmore and some players on it are to be expected. The two most expected ones are Alfredsson and Spezza. Alfredsson spent 17 seasons with the Senators and recorded 1,108 points which is the franchise record. Alfredsson served as Senators captain from 1999-2013.

For Spezza, he also served as captain for the 2013-14 season after Alfredsson joined the Detroit Red Wings for the 2013-14 season. Spezza is second all-time in points in Senators history with 687. Spezza was a key member on the Senators' 2007 Stanley Cup roster and recorded two 90-point seasons.

When it comes to Tkachuk and Hossa, these two could shock some, but they both deservedly earned their spot on the Mount Rushmore over other forwards. Some may have expected Dany Heatley to join his line mates of Alfredsson and Spezza, but Heatley only spent four seasons in Ottawa.

Hossa spent seven seasons and recorded 390 points with the Senators. Hossa was a huge part of the Senators' 2003 President's Trophy winning team. In that 2002-03 season, Hossa set a then Senators record of 45 goals in a single season.

For Tkachuk, he's spent his entire career with the Senators since being drafted in 2018. Tkachuk has made three All-Star Game appearances and has served as Senators captain since 2021.

If there's one forward that may have a spot to be on the Mount Rushmore over Hossa or Tkachuk it is Alexei Yashin. Although Yashin's tenure ended bad in Ottawa, Yashin is fourth all-time in Senators history for points with 491 ahead of Hossa and Tkachuk. Yashin also served as Senators captain for one season. In 1999, Yashin finished second in Hart Trophy voting.

The Senators Mount Rushmore of forwards since 1990 is an impressive one that is filled with four talented players. Three of the four players on there were former captains of the Senators who were important players in franchise history.
