Some might find it hard to believe that Nick Jensen started playing in the NHL since the 2016-17 season when he was a member of the Detroit Red Wings. The 34-year-old has played in 617 career NHL games.

Of those 617 games, Jensen has played the most games as a member of the Washington Capitals. In Washington, Jensen's defensive presence helped the Capitals make the playoffs five times during his tenure.

This past off-season, Jensen was traded away to the Ottawa Senators. Last night, it was time for the Capitals to show respect to Jensen for his tenure in Washington, and they certainly did.

Jensen gets tribute in return to Washington

Last night, Jensen returned to Washington for the first time following the trade as a Senator. While the Capitals defeated the Senators 5-4 in a shootout, the Capitals showed respect to Jensen for his time in Washington with a tribute.

After the video, Jensen can be seen at the bench with his hand in the air thanking the Capitals and their fans. The fans cheered Jensen for his impact on the Capitals.

Jensen played in 372 games as a Capital and was a good defensive defenseman. In the 2021-22 season, Jensen not only set a career-high +32 rating, but it also was the highest among the Capitals for the season. In the following 2022-23 season, Jensen set a career-high for points in a season with 29.

This season, Jensen has continued to show his importance defensively for the Senators. In 55 games played, Jensen's +13 rating is tied for the highest on the team along with Thomas Chabot. Jensen's 18 points is the third highest among Senators defensemen.
