Since being drafted with the 158th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators, forward Philippe Daoust hasn't played an NHL game. From 2021-22-2023-24, Daoust played a combined 28 games in the AHL with the Belleville Senators in three seasons.
Last season, Daoust played more in the AHL, but Belleville has seen a major jump in the 24-year-old's game, which is improving the team this season.
Daoust off to impressive and much needed big AHL start
Through 14 games this season, Daoust has 13 points. Ten of Daoust's 13 points are assists. As of now, Daoust is second on Belleville's roster in both points and assists.
From last season to this season, Daoust's game has improved. Daoust recorded 22 points in 52 games. Playing more in the AHL last season sure has helped Daoust this season with the hot start he's on.
Daoust got consistent in October when he went three consecutive games with recording an assist. Now, Daoust has had a hot four-game stretch.
Over the past four games combined, Daoust has recorded seven points. In two of those games, Daoust recorded a multi-point game.
Last week against the Hartford Wolf Pack, Daoust recorded a goal and an assist to help lead Belleville to a 2-1 win. Three days ago against the Rochester Americans, Daoust delivered the best game of his AHL career.
Daoust recorded a career-high four-point game to help Belleville earn a 6-4 win. It was the first time in his AHL career that Daoust recorded a three-assist game. Dauost's recent hot stretch has helped Belleville currently sit in fourth place in the North Division with 15 points.
Not many would've expected to see Daoust have the season he is currently having. However, Daoust's offense is turning around for the better. Belleville has seen a huge jump from some of its players this season.
Now, Daoust is one of those players this season making a big jump.
