At the 2015 NHL Draft, the Ottawa Senators landed on drafting Thomas Chabot with the 18th overall pick. Another selection the Senators made in 2015 was on defenseman Christian Jaros with the 139th overall pick.

The Senators were hoping Jaros would turn into a solid fifth-round draft steal, but it didn't happen. Jaros last played a game with the Senators on March 5, 2020. After the 2021-22 season, Jaros was out of the NHL.

Jaros would then join Russia's KHL and play for three different teams. Now, the Slovakian defenseman is returning to the NHL after three years, but not in Ottawa.

Jaros now under contract in Ohio's capital

After three KHL seasons, Jaros is back in the NHL. Jaros is now under contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. With not playing in the NHL for three seasons and having NHL struggles, it's unsure what Jaros can bring to Columbus.

Jaros began his hockey career in Ottawa for three seasons from 2017-2020. During those three seasons, Jaros recorded 13 points with a -16 rating in 76 games. The best season Jaros had was recording 10 points in 61 games during the 2018-19 season.

After 2020, Jaros recorded one assist while playing in seven games with the San Jose Sharks in the 2020-21 season. Then, Jaros recorded zero points in 11 games in the 2021-22 season with the New Jersey Devils. After 2022, Jaros then joined the KHL.

Jaros played for both the Omsk Avangard and CSKA Moscow in the 2022-23 season. Then, Jaros played for the Cherepovets Severstal in the 2023-24 season. Jaros' 2023-24 season was his best in the KHL with recording an 18-point season. Jaros played his final KHL season in 2024-25 with CKSA for a second stint.

Twenty-two days ago, Jaros signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blue Jackets. With a steady KHL career, Jaros will now be eager for it to translate over in the NHL. Jaros recorded 42 points with a +16 rating in 132 KHL games.
