In his 16-year NHL career, some might forget that Scott Gomez played his final year with the Ottawa Senators after signing a late one-year contract in March 2016. Today, the former Senator made a big accomplishment.
Today, it was announced that Gomez will be part of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame class of 2025. Gomez will be inducted along with Joe Pavelski, Zach Parise, Tara Mounsey and Bruce Bennett. From Anchorage, Alaska, to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame is a big accomplishment for Gomez.
Gomez finished his NHL career with recording 756 points in 1,079 games played. Gomez played for seven different NHL teams with the Senators being the final one. Gomez recorded one assist in 13 games played in the 2015-16 season with Ottawa.
Prior to Ottawa, Gomez was a solid player who made big accomplishments. Gomez may be remembered by many as a member of the New Jersey Devils where he became a dynamic player in the 2000s. Gomez was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Devils in 2000 and 2003.
Gomez was the first Latino player to win the Calder Trophy back in 2000. Gomez also made two All-Star Games and played for Team USA at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Now, Gomez's legacy will be remembered as an American for a solid career with being part of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
