At the 2009 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens selected Gabriel Dumont with the 139rd overall pick in the draft.
From 2011-2015, Dumont would play in just 18 games for the Canadiens in four seasons. After not playing in the 2015-16 NHL season, Dumont played in 39 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016-17 season.
In the 2017-18 season, Dumont was picked up by the Ottawa Senators after being placed on waivers by the Lightning. Seven years later after playing a short stint with the Senators, Dumont officially hung up his skates.
Dumont announced retirement from NHL
Yesterday, Dumont announced his retirement from the NHL at 34 years old. Dumont finished his NHL career with recording nine points in 90 games played.
Dumont's Ottawa tenure only happened in the 2017-18 season where he played in 23 games as a Senator. In those 23 games, Dumont recorded two points. The 2017-18 season was the first of seven seasons in which the Senators failed to make the playoffs until 2025.
Dumont last played an NHL game with the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 24, 2019. During the 2019-20 season, Dumont played in just three games for the Wild.
The Senators and the rest of the NHL say goodbye and good luck to Dumont and his future endeavors with calling it a career. Dumont was the captain of the AHL's Syracuse Crunch before retiring.
