Former NHL goaltender Ben Bishop played for five different teams in 11 seasons in the NHL. Twenty-three of Bishop's 413 career games played were with the Ottawa Senators. Bishop's tenure in Ottawa ended in the 2012-13 season when he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Looking back in hindsight, Bishop being traded away by the Senators was one of the best things to happen because his career took off afterward. Bishop became a steady goaltender with the Lightning and Dallas Stars.

Bishop finished second in Vezina Trophy voting in 2016 and in 2019. Bishop hasn't played an NHL game since 2020. However, Bishop will be honored in September by a school.

Bishop to be inducted into Maine Sports Hall of Fame

On June 9, it was announced that the former NHL goaltender will be inducted into the University of Maine's Sports Hall of Fame in September.

Bishop recorded 55 wins with a 2.29 goals against average and .917 save percentage during his time at Maine.

Meagan Aarts, Brandon McGowan and Bill Schroeder are the other three candidates that will join Bishop for the Hall of Fame.

Some fans might forget that the 38-year-old Denver native spent time with the Senators in his NHL career. Bishop posted an 11-8-2 record with a 2.47 goals against average and .917 save percentage as a Senator.

While Bishop's Senators career won't be remembered by many, his success at Maine will be forever with being inducted into the school's sports hall of fame. Bishop will be inducted on Sept. 26.
