For the past three seasons since he's signed, Claude Giroux has been a big part of the Ottawa Senators roster. Giroux has recorded 193 points while missing one regular season game.

In 2025, Giroux helped the Senators make the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Giroux recorded five points against the Toronto Maple Leafs in round one of the 2025 playoffs. However, despite being a fan favorite, Giroux's future in Ottawa could be uncertain with being a free agent.

Reports six days ago began that Giroux could be intersted in signing with the Montreal Canadiens if the Senators can't work out a new contract. Despite being an unrestricted free agent at 37 years old, the Senators may have showed a sign that things could be heating up for Giroux to re-sign in Ottawa.

Giroux included in social media post despite being UFA

This morning, the Senators made a post for Bonne St-Jean with Thomas Chabot and David Perron in the post. Both Chabot and Perron are under contract with the Senators for the 2025-26 season. However, the Senators included Giroux in their Bonne St-Jean post despite him not currently being under contract with the Senators for 2025-26.

There always can be little things mentioned or posted when it comes to a player wanting to stay with a team in free agency. The Senators may have done this with the Bonne St-Jean tweet by including Giroux.

Most Sens fans want Giroux to re-sign in Ottawa, but it's important that the Senators don't overpay to keep Giroux with having over $10.7 million in cap space. Giroux's next contract could be a pricey one and limit the Senators chances to re-sign him. Along with that, the Senators have other players on the roster to try and re-sign.

Recently, there was reports that the Senators will likely make a pursue for Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser. If the Senators want to pursue and sign Boeser, the chances to re-sign Giroux are low due to the chances of Boeser earning a high contract.

Giroux's name will be mentioned constantly until a deal is done or not in Ottawa. However, a post with Giroux in it for Bonne St-Jean could be signs things are heating up for Giroux to re-sign in Ottawa.
