Brady Tkachuk's importance to the Ottawa Senators is huge with being the team captain. However, Tkachuk is battling a lower-body injury.
Eight days ago during the 4 Nations Face-Off, Tkachuk suffered the injury after crashing into the net in the United States-Sweden game. Tkachuk did play in the championship game three nights later despite the injury.
However, when the Senators returned to play this past Saturday and suffered a 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, Tkachuk didn't play. Now, Tkachuk has provided an update regarding his injury.
Tkachuk hopes he is able play tomorrow night against Jets
Today at practice, Tkachuk was practicing but left practice early to be cautious with his injury. Even with leaving practice early, Tkachuk said that he's hoping to play tomorrow against the Winnipeg Jets, who are currently the best team in the NHL with 85 points.
Tkachuk says he left practice early to be cautious. He hopes to be able to play tomorrow. Says he suffered the LB injury just before he ran into the post. He felt something just before the collision.

There's no other way to put it, the Senators need Tkachuk back in the lineup to have a better chance of winning. The Senators are currently without momentum as the team is on a four-game losing streak. If the Senators are going to make a playoff push with 62 points at the moment, Tkachuk needs to be playing, and this season has been a big one for the captain.
Tkachuk is third on the Senators with 44 points, but leads the team with 21 goals and 11 powerplay goals. Eighteen of Tkachuk's 44 points this season has come on the powerplay.
Tomorrow night's game against the Jets is a crucial one. A win is desperately needed to head into March with some momentum and confidence. The Senators will be looking to avenge their 4-2 loss against the Jets earlier this season on Dec. 28. Puck drop for tomorrow will be at 7 p.m. ET.
