2010s- Drake Batherson

In the 2010s, the Senators saw success with making the playoffs five times in the decade. Over the course of the decade, the Senators were able to hit on key draft picks.

From Thomas Chabot, to Jean-Gabriel Pageau, to Mark Stone and to Shane Pinto, the Senators have made good selections. However, one draft steal is making a huge impact on the Senators today.

That would be Drake Batherson. In the 2017 NHL Draft, Batherson was taken with the 121st overall pick. Batherson recorded 29 points 43 games from 2018-2020, but his 2020-21 season was when he first got noticed.

In the 2020-21 56-game shortneed season, Batherson recorded 34 points and kept getting better by making the 2022 NHL All-Star Game. Over the past two seasons, Batherson recorded a 60-point season and has turned into one of the most underrated players in the NHL at making under $5 million for his production.

At 26 years old, Batherson will be relied on big as an important piece of the Senators' future. Batherson has already gotten off to a strong start this season and will be continued to be relied on.
