Ottawa Senators defenseman Artem Zub has dealt with injuries this season. In the third game of the season, Zub suffered a concussion that caused him to miss nine games. When Zub returned on Nov. 7, he would play in eight games.
On Nov. 23, Zub played his final game of 2024. Zub suffered a foot injury and would go on long-term injured reserve.
Zub would miss the final 16 games of 2024. As 2025 has arrived, the Senators will now get a boost to the lineup as Zub is healthy to return.
Zub returns to lineup in first game of 2025
The Senators begin 2025 tonight at 8 p.m. ET against the Dallas Stars. The Senators activated Zub off LTIR and he will return to the lineup against the Stars.
Zub has missed 25 combined games this season. In 11 games played this season, Zub has only recorded two assists with a -7 rating. Zub's two assists came on Nov. 12 in the Senators' 3-0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Although it's a boost for the Senators lineup that Zub is returning, he needs to turnaround his season and remain healthy. Zub's -7 rating is tied for the third lowest on the Senators with Ridly Greig and Noah Gregor.
Zub and the defense will have their hands full against a Stars offense that's filled with depth. However, the Senators have won four of their last six games against the Stars.
