Possible deadline trade proposed for Pageau, Hainsey
There was a possible trade proposed recently, this will break down the trade.
The proposed trade will feature the Ottawa Senators and the New York Islanders. Jean-Gabriel Pageau will be shipped to New York as well as Ron Hainsey.
In exchange the Ottawa Senators would receive, B+ prospect Kieffer Bellows and two conditional draft picks heading Ottawa’s way.
The picks would be a 2020 second round pick, and a 2021 third rounder. The conditions for those picks are as follows.
For the 2020 second rounder, the Islanders would have to advance to the second round of the playoffs, and Pageau would have to play at least 50% of the games.

The other condition that could be met would be, if Pageau re-signs with the Islanders, the pick is upgraded to a 2021 second round pick.
This is a good trade for both sides, as the Islanders are in a contender position heading into the February 24th trade deadline. While the Senators are in the later stages of a long-term rebuild, so gaining a high volume of early round picks is very important.
Kieffer Bellows was a 19th overall pick in the 2016 draft, but has failed to meet his lofty expectations. He has good offensive upside and would definitely benefit from the exposure to the high flying Belleville Senators.
Through 45 games this year for the Bridgeport Sound tigers of the AHL, he has 16 goals and 24 total points, picking up the pace after a rough start to the season for the 21-year old.
The Senators down in Belleville would love to add another scoring forward to their All-Star lineup. He would slot in exceptionally well on a line with Filip Chlapik and Michael Carcone, and could add some scoring touch in the hopes of a Calder Cup for the Ottawa Senators farm team.
This is a good, solid trade for both sides and there is a real likelihood that this turns out.
