Max Veronneau is the latest Ottawa Senators prospect examined in our ‘get to know your prospects’ series.

The Ottawa native signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators on March 12, 2019.

He suited up for his first National Hockey League game two days later on March 14, 2019.

Considered by many to be one of the top college free agents this past season, this was a great move by Pierre Dorion and the Ottawa Senators to sign Max Veronneau.

He started his career with the Gloucester Rangers of the CCHL posting beautiful numbers for over two years. He chose to play with this team since it was near his hometown of Ottawa.

In his freshman season playing for Princeton University, he got 11 goals and six assists for 17 points in 30 games which is solid for a rookie.

In his sophomore season, he played 33 games and got 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points, another solid point per game season.

It was in his third season with Princeton that he really began shine. Veronneau put up 17 goals and 38 assists for 55 points in only 36 games which amounts to a spectacular 1.53 points per game. He took a minor dip in point production in his fourth year only getting 37 points in 31 games.

When Max Veronneau’s college career came to an end, the young forward found himself being pursued by a large number of NHL teams, before he decided to sign with the Ottawa Senators.

He began to play right away in the NHL playing 12 games before the end of the year and notching a respectable two goals and two assists for four points.

Him being a right-wing will work in his advantage this coming season to get more ice time, since the one area where the Senators are weak in is the right-wing position.

Veronneau could be in the Ottawa Senators starting lineup come October 2nd. If he can secure some top minutes and some power-play time he could be a top player for the Sens next year.

Already older than almost all of the Senators’ top prospects, he will be seen as a leader to lead by example for the younger senators prospect this coming season.
