The Ottawa Senators went one for two on the weekend. First they won a game in the shootout versus the Philadelphia Flyers, then they lost last night to the Montreal Canadiens.

The weekend as a whole was better than most for the Ottawa Senators with one out of two games resulting in a victory. However, the weekend ended in disappointment as many nights seem to for the Ottawa Senators these days.

Philadelphia

In their victory over the Flyers, the Sens very nearly blew their chance for a rare win. They got out to a strong start and led the game 2-0 after one period. Then after an even second period they led 3-1. Unfortunately, the Sens fell apart in the third to allow the game to be tied at three. Despite this the Sens were able to recover for a victory in the sixth round of the shootout off a goal by Mike Hoffman.

Montreal

Last night saw a very different result for the Ottawa Senators. It was a game that they fell out of very quickly. After a scoreless first period the Sens were actually able to open the scoring early in the second period. Unfortunately, this would be the last goal for the Sens. What followed was the Montreal Canadiens taking advantage of multiple powerplay opportunities to score three times in the second period. They would add one more in the third to give the Habs a 4-1 victory over the Sens.
