Ottawa Senators: Chabot And Paul To Bounce Between NHL And AHL
The Ottawa Senators are preparing for a seven game road trip. It’s a trip that could either make or break their season and it looks like some of the young guns will be joining for the trip.
Yesterday it was announced that Thomas Chabot and Nick Paul would be sent back down to Belleville. A move that was considered strange in the Sens fandom. Zack Smith had made his return, so it wasn’t shocking to see Paul go down, but Chabot being sent down was surprising. Wideman and Borowiecki are still injured, and the team has often used seven defencemen. However, as it turns out this was a move made to ensure that they both get playing time before being recalled again by the Ottawa Senators.
Both players will likely return to the team before they leave for the road trip. Paul will serve as the team’s 13th forward and Chabot will serve as the seventh defenceman.
Chabot
So far this season, Chabot has played five games for the Ottawa Senators. In those five games he has three assists. He’s helped significantly on the powerplay and has overall been a valuable member of the team. He will likely rotate with Claesson and Harpur for that sixth spot for the time being.

Paul
Paul has been mostly used as a role player for the Sens. He doesn’t get much playing time and only goes in when the team needs an extra body. He has no points in four games this season. In 29 career games he has two goals and five points.
