The Ottawa Senators continue to fall short on their road trip. This time falling by the score of 2-1 to the New York Islanders.

The Ottawa Senators have now lost six straight and have gone four games without a point. They sit outside a playoff spot and behind many teams they were projected to be ahead of this season.

First Period

The first period was a good one for the Ottawa Senators. They contained the Islanders well and kept the game scoreless. They killed off two penalties to keep themselves in the game.

Second Period

The second period was one that saw half of the game in special teams play. Unfortunately for the Ottawa Senators, it was the New York Islanders to convert half way through the period. This gave them a 1-0 lead and the game headed to intermission with the Sens down.

Third Period

Down just one goal the Sens had plenty of opportunity to tie the game. However, a goal by Jordan Eberle with six minutes remaining all but sealed the Sens fate. The Sens got one goal back by Matt Duchene. It was his first goal with the Ottawa Senators and was on the powerplay. However, it was too late and the Sens lost 2-1.

Good Signs But Poor Results

This game had signs of good things to come for the Ottawa Senators. Anderson had a good game and Duchene finally got the monkey off his back. However, the Sens desperately need to string a few wins together to get back into a playoff spot. They are slowly falling out of position.
