NHL hockey is back, tonight four games will take place and the action will officially take off when the Winnipeg Jets take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately for Sens fans we have one more day to wait. The Ottawa Senators will begin their regular season journey tomorrow when they take on the Washington Capitals.

Despite the Ottawa Senators not playing tonight, there is news about tomorrow’s game. Which players will be playing, which are scratched, and which have been placed on injured reserve has been revealed.

Forwards

Despite rumours of general manager Pierre Dorion making a move the Sens will only be icing familiar faces come Thursday. At forward the team has: Derick Brassard, Logan Brown. Alex Burrows, Ryan Dzingel, Mike Hoffman, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Tom Pyatt, Bobby Ryan, Zack Smith, Mark Stone, Nate Thompson and Kyle Turris. Notably Logan Brown will be making his NHL debut.

Defencemen

On defence the Sens have: Mark Borowiecki, Cody Ceci, Fredrik Claesson, Johnny Oduya, Dion Phaneuf, and Chris Wideman. Karlsson will not be ready for the season opener, but fortunately he has not been placed on injured reserve, indicating that he should return soon.

Goalies

In goal Craig Anderson will get the call to start and Mike Condon will back him up. Nothing surprising here has the goalie situation was widely known throughout the summer.

Injured Reserve

The Sens have also announced that both Clarke MacArthur and Colin White have been placed in the injured reserve. Both players will be out long term. MacArthur in particular has an uncertain future.

Scratches

Although Alex Formenton is still with the team he will not be in the lineup for opening night. This could indicate that he will be sent back to junior soon. However, since he’s still with the Ottawa Senators it seems likely that he’ll see ice time in at least one game.
