Ottawa Senators: Logan Brown Shines In Victory Over Montreal
The Ottawa Senators continued their pre-season success last night with a victory over the Montreal Canadiens. They continue to avoid opposition with a 5-1 victory.
With the Ottawa Senators defeating the Montreal Canadiens they improve their pre-season record to 3-0. Once again they were led by a mix of young talent and veterans.
First Period
The game started out well for the Ottawa Senators and they never really let up. Just four minutes in Logan Brown made a fantastic individual play where he fought off a trip at the blue line and deaked in towards the goalie. He made a pass to Bobby Ryan and then scored on the rebound giving him his second of the pre-season. Just under six minutes later Reinhart would score to give the Sens a two goal lead.
Second Period
Heading into the second period the Sens got off to another fast start. Less than two minutes into the period, Johnny Oduya scored his first goal in an Ottawa Senators uniform to give the Sens a three goal lead. At the nine minute mark, Mark Stone would score to extend the lead. Midway through the second Charles Hudon of the Canadiens would score to bring the score to 4-1. However, that would be all the offence the Habs would achieve all night.
Third Period
In the third period the Sens shut down the game and kept the lead safe. There was no scoring until Logan Brown found his second of the game on the powerplay with a minute left. This gave the Sens a 5-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
Standouts
Once again Logan Brown was a standout for the Ottawa Senators. He put up two goals and three points to lead the Sens to victory. At this point given his performance it would be shocking for Brown to not start the season with the Sens.
Additionally, the majority of the established NHL players looked great as would be expected in the pre-season. Anderson was also in top form as he stopped 25 of 26 shots.
