The rookies of the Ottawa Senators began their tournament with a dominant victory over the rookies of the Montreal Canadiens.

Rookie tournaments can be difficult to judge going in, unless the teams are absolutely stacked it can be a bit of a crap-shoot. However, none of that stopped the Ottawa Senators from trouncing Montreal by a score of 8-2. This was the third year in a row that the Sens beat the Habs in the rookie tournament.

The game started off well for the Sens when jack Rodewald scored just 18 seconds into the first period. However, the Canadiens would bounce back quickly by tying up the game just over four minutes later. However, that would be the last time the game would seem close. The Sens added two more goals in the first period to lead 3-1 at first intermission. The Second period saw the Sens widen the score gap with two more goals and the period ended with a score of 5-1.

The third period saw the Canadiens answer back but not until the Sens had already brought their score to seven. The Sens would add one final goal at the hand of Logan Brown to win the game dominantly 8-2.

With a dominant score of 8-2 it can be difficult to pick standouts as the Sens were just dominant all throughout. However, if some were to be picked it would be Thomas Chabot who had three assists and dominated the transition game. Additionally Perron had three assists while Brown, Rodewald, Chlapik, and Lajoie all added two points. Notably Colin White was absent from the score-sheet but was strong at both ends of the ice.  Following their victory over Montreal the Sens will play the rookies of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the tournament victory.
