The Ottawa Senators have just completed their 25th year in the NHL. However, due to the 04-05 lockout they are actually about to enter their 25th season. So, I thought what better time to recognize the 25 greatest Senators of all time. This list won’t be based on pure talent, but rather the skill, impact, and durability of each player.

Ottawa Senators Greatest Players: #20 Anton Volchenkov
Now without further ado the 19th greatest player in Ottawa Senators history….
#19 Mike Hoffman
The career of Mike Hoffman has been a short one thus far. He’s only played three full seasons in the NHL, all for the Ottawa Senators. However, in his short career so far he has proven to be one of the best natural goal scorers the Sens have had in years. In those three seasons he has amassed 27, 29, and 26 goals. Additionally,
he has increased his point total in each season. In this era of the NHL where scoring is hard to come by, being a near 30 goal scorer is very impressive and valuable.
Although Hoffman has just 260 games in the NHL, he has amassed 174 points. In that time he is already 21st all-time in Sens scoring. At the rate he’s going, he’ll surely move much further up that list.

At the age of 27 Hoffman will be the Ottawa Senators for many years to come. If his career has been any indication thus far then he has the potential to establish himself as one of the Sens’ best scorers of all-time. Hoffman is a part of the forward group that helped bring the Sens out of their dark years. He may have only played three seasons but he’s established himself to be a great player. His impact in transitioning the Sens to a contender again is what makes him so great.
