Ottawa Senators: Dorion Says Sens Are Still Looking To Add A Forward
Although the Ottawa Senators have made a valuable addition in Johnny Oduya they might not be done just yet.
The Ottawa Senators signed Johnny Oduya to a cheap, one year contract to add some much needed depth to their blue-line. However, GM Pierre Dorion says they may not be done. In his press conference following the signing he said that they are still looking to add. Specifically he said they were looking to add a forward. Whether it’s through a trade or free agency is still up in the air. However, it appears as though both options are still open. As he was pushed by the media on being mostly done, he emphasised that he was still trying to do something else. This gives the impression that Dorion has something specific in mind.
Free Agent Options
The position the Sens have been most desperate need of help in is forward. The Sens struggled to score last year and could need outside help to remedy that. Players such as Jagr and Parenteau are still available on the free agent market to help with scoring. Both would be relatively cheap options which would likely garner immediate results. However, the more intriguing options come from trades.
Trade Options
The Sens and Dorion haven’t shied away from trades in the last year. Since becoming GM, Dorion has been very active. There have been rumours surrounding a potential trade for Marian Gaborik. That deal specifically was rumoured to result in the Sens sending Phaneuf to LA. This is much more plausible now that Oduya has been signed. However, it still may not be entirely likely. Matt Duchene has also yet to be traded. Alternatively a potential trade could be something entirely different.

Wrap Up
The Ottawa Senators apparently aren’t done just yet. General Manager Pierre Dorion says they are still looking to add at forward. Based on his history there’s no reason to doubt that. He appears to be trying to do something specific and it should be exciting.
