January 17,1998.

The Ottawa Senators acquired Pat Falloon Vinny Prospal and round 2 pick in the 1998 draft (Chris Bala) from the Philadelphia Flyers for Alexandre Daigle.

The Senators had a nightmare first season in the NHL going 10-70-4. Ottawa selected Alexandre Daigle 1st overall in the 1993 Entry Draft.

Daigle put up major points in the QMJHL, scoring 247 points in 119 games for Victoriaville. The Senators signed Daigle to a  5 year, $12.25 million dollar deal following the 1993 draft.

The former 1st overall pick was supposed to save the Senators organization and was dealt to the Philadelphia Flyers after not living up to the hype.

The Flyers hoped a change of scenery would spark Daigle.

Pat Falloon played just 28 games for the Senators scoring 3 goals and 3 assists.

Prospal played 4 seasons in Ottawa, 213 games with 111 points. Prospal was traded in 2001 to the Florida Panthers for a conditional pick.

The Ottawa Senators selected Chris Bala with the 2nd rounder acquired in the deal.  Bala played in just 6 career NHL games with 1 point.

Alexandre Daigle’s Flyers career started off on the right foot, scoring 26 points in 37 games. The second season in Philadelphia saw Daigle play in 31 games and collect 5 points. Daigle was traded to the Tampa Bay Lighting during his second season in Philadelphia.
