Ryan Scores Goal Of The Playoffs…In A Losing Cause

facebooktwitterreddit

Bobby Ryan of the Anaheim Ducks returned from his two game suspension last night and scored the nicest goal since Alex Ovechin scored from his back against Phoenix a few years ago.

Ryan’s goal was reminiscent of Mario Lemieux‘s undressing of fellow Hall of Famer Ray Bourque in the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Here is an  Top 10 from TSN SportCentre with a bunch of sweet one  on one moves of players making defensive players lose their jockstraps on the ice (Lemieux is #2 & #1, with some Senators content as well):

So now I have teased you enough, here is Bobby Ryan’s goal from last night, making David Legwand look ridiculous (from NHL.com) :

Too bad it was in a losing cause, as the Ducks fell to the Predators in Overtime to fall behind 3-2 going back to Nashville.  Philadelphia also fell behind 3-2 and will face elimination in a hostile Buffalo arena as they also fell behind by losing in OT to the Sabres.

Today, you can get your fill of playoff hockey as there is a quadruple-header with very little overlap (overtime aside).  The Lightning hope to live another day, as they face elimination in the 12:00 noon ET start, played in Pittsburgh.  Up next is another potential elimination, as the Rangers head to Washington at 3:00 pm to face an early summer and the Capitals, trailing 3-1.  The 7:00 start is the only one that doesn’t have one team facing extinction, as the Bruins and Habs square off even at 2 games apeice.  This has been a road series, as the visiting team has won all 4 games.  The nightcap sees San Jose with an opportunity to end the Kings’ season as they return home ahead 3-1.

Combine all that with a Binghamton Senators game 7 tonight, there is a great day of hockey ahead!
