Sens Buzz Second Round NHL Playoff Predictions

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Sorry for the long break. I’ve had some things going on the past few weeks and with the Sens season over, I thought it was the time to take a break. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be regularly posting until the middle of May because of a 1 week vacation to Halifax. It’ll be nice to relax and kick back after a long and dreadful season for the Sens. However, I’ll be giving my playoff picks as they go so here they are for the second round. Note that I went 6-2 in the First Round with the Sharks aka [...]

Zack Kassian—The Next Milan Lucic?

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

While the Sens are trying to figure out who will be a future Senator on Draft Day, most fans have concluded the Sens will take the best player available at the 9th position. Not so fast though, storming in is young Peterborough Pete Zack Kassian. Kassian is a big, strong, power forward from the outskirts of Ontario.
And guess who Kassian is being compared to? The one, the only, Milan Lucic, who is probably my 3rd favorite player in the NHL. Lucic is awesome. Kassian is awesome. Zack had 63 points in 61 games this season, but more importantly, took [...]

Bryan Murray Will Draft A Defenseman or A Winger

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Before the blog, I’d like to give Dean Brown a shoutout for his play-by-play on the Flyers-Penguins series. With the egomaniac Bob Cole set to retire after this season, Dean Brown could be his replacement. It would be sad to see him go as he is one of the best in the biz.
The NHL Draft is looming upon us Sens fans. Since there is no postseason in the Nation’s Capital this year, the focus has shifted to the Entry Draft in Habitant Town. I’ve taken a vacation to Edmonton to meet some family mostly because with the Habs pre-emptively losing [...]

Sens Buzz First Round Playoff Predictions and Playoff Pool

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, alas this will be my first playoff predictions that don’t feature Ottawa in it but I think every fan loves to predict even without their favorite team in the playoffs. Here are my predictions, analysis, and Series MVP. Note I predicted Pittsburgh to face Dallas in the SC finals. Dallas didn’t make the Playoffs. There goes half of it.
Eastern Conference
(1) Boston Bruins vs. (8) Montreal CanadiensWhat a difference a year makes, eh? Last year, the Habs were riding off one of the best years in their franchise history and facing a lowly Bruins team who had barely made it [...]

World Championships On Guard

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

You will lose Price! LOOOOOOOSSSEEEEEE! Well the season is over, and there will be no playoff hockey in the Nation’s Capital this year. Even Binghmton collapsed and finished the season in 5th in the East Division, 1 point behind the Philadelphia Phantoms, who occupy the last playoff spot. There are many Bingo fans who are mad at Bryan Murray but maybe I’ll do that at a later time.
I’ve been told from a few sources that the Ottawa Senators will see many of their players heading to Switzerland for the World Championships. Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza, Chris Phillips, and Alexander Auld [...]

Once Again, Bryan Murray proves his "worthiness"

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tyler Bozak has signed with the Maple Leafs. I’m a bit surprised because I heard that the Colorado Avalanche were frontrunners all the way through but I guess Brian Burke stole him right under. Of course, our hapless General Manager Bryan Murray was in the Final 3 for Bozak but showed once again he isn’t capable of the being Ottawa’s GM and let’s hope he respectably re-signs in the off-season.
People have asked me if the Sens are interested in Hobey Baker hat-trick Finalist Matt Gilroy. Right now things are preliminary and Gilroy is at the stage of 25 teams being [...]

Quick Hit: 3 Teams Still Standing In The Bozak Battle

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Battle of Ontario has been ferocious every year. This year, both teams won’t be making the playoffs. But another battle is growing. One of my sources has told me that Tyler Bozak called the Minnesota Wild last night to say he won’t be signing with them. Right now, Bozak is down to three teams, the Colorado Avalanche, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Ottawa Senators. I’ve been told one of Ottawa or Toronto will be told that they’re not in the running anymore by noon or later today. There is a chance that he might decide today but I [...]
