The Ottawa Senators have been decimated by injuries since the puck dropped in preseason, and it is clear that it's not going to get better anytime soon. Especially after losing their starting goalie, Linus Ullmark, to injury against the Florida Panthers.

At some point, the injuries have to stop, and players are going to start to heal. Unfortunately, for the Senators, it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon, and that is the issue. Despite the loss of key players, the team has continued to battle and currently sit tied for second in the Atlantic Division.

This team has fully embraced the 'next men up' mentality and continued to win games. So, with that, let's look at who is still dealing with injuries and how long they will be out of the lineup for.

Senators' injury list

The Senators' injury list currently sits at just four players, which is a positive sign, but they are still missing some very valuable players from their roster.

First up, the aforementioned Ullmark, who left the game against the Panthers after getting hit with a hard shot by Brady Tkachuk in his return to Ottawa. This is expected to sideline him for one to two weeks, and he was placed on the IR as of Oct. 22.

Next, the captain, Thomas Chabot, who was having a great start to the season before getting hurt. Sadly, that has been a storyline throughout this career; at times, he has struggled to stay healthy. Nevertheless, he is dealing with an upper-body injury and will be out of the lineup short-term.

William Eklund's injury is one that is tough to see happen. After being acquired in the offseason in a move to help replace some of Tkachuk's offence. He went down with an injury to his ankle within the first 10 games of the season and needed surgery. After having successful surgery, he is expected to be out for 10-12 weeks, which puts his return scheduled for somewhere in the early part of 2027.

Lastly, there is Kurtis MacDermid, who has been on the IR-non-roster list since the start of the season. At this time, there is no report on him, aside from the fact that he is dealing with an upper-body injury. Hopefully whatever he is dealing with doesn't force him to be out long-term.

There were a number of other names that have since left the IR, like Artem Zub, Jake Sanderson, and Cameron Crotty. All of them have since returned to the organization, and for Zub and Sanderson, they've made an immediate impact on the lineup. The hope is that Ullmark isn't out longer than week-to-week because their goaltending without him in the lineup is extremely weak.
