The Ottawa Senators have announced that they've trimmed their training camp roster by 29 players. With opening night rosters needing to be set by Monday, Sept. 28th, at 5:00 p.m., today was one of the busiest days in the NHL.
Ottawa had a training camp roster of 58 players before trimming it by 29, and now they are down to 29. So, there is still some work to be done before the rosters need to be submitted. However, now, Senators fans have a much better idea of who the final players on the roster could be.
Senators' roster cuts
With the Senators reducing their training camp roster by this much, there are always a lot of moving parts. In this particular case, they loaned 10 players to the AHL, placed eight players on waivers, and sent four players back to their respective junior clubs.
The 10 players that were loaned to the Belleville Senators are Djibril Toure, Oskar Pettersson, Kasper Halttunen, Tomas Hamara, Eskild Bakke Olsen, Matthew Andonovski, Gabriel Eliasson, Lucas Ellinas, Jackson Parsons and Kevin Reidler.

The eight players that they placed on waivers for purposes of being loaned to Belleville were Samuel Blais, Philip Tomasino, Samuel Bolduc, Tyler Boucher, Xavier Bourgault, Philippe Daoust, Ryan Suzuki and Christian Kyrou.
Lastly, the four junior places sent back to their respective clubs were Louis-Félix Bourque, Jaxon Cover, Adam Nemec and Blake Vanek.
One thing that we learned from all these roster moves is just how deep the Senators' organization is. GM Steve Staios wanted to add NHL-level depth to their club, and he has done that successfully.

With that, it leaves the following players still with the organization ahead of the roster deadline tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
Forwards: Michael Amadio, Drake Batherson, Andre Burakovsky, Nick Cousins, Dylan Cozens, William Eklund, Warren Foegele, Claude Giroux, Ridly Greig, Stephen Halliday, Hayden Hodgson, Kurtis MacDermid, Blake Montgomery, Shane Pinto, Tim Stutzle and Fabian Zetterlund.
Defence: Thomas Chabot, Cameron Crotty, Jorian Donovan, Ben Hutton, Tyler Kleven, Nikolas Matinpalo, Jake Sanderson, Jordan Spence, Hoyt Stanley, Carter Yakemchuk, and Artem Zub.
Goalies: Samuel Ersson and Linus Ullmark
With the Senators dealing with some injuries right now, we can all see why they elected to keep some extra players around. Which means we will find out what everyone is dealing with as well as who stays around with the club, as we are just under a day until the roster deadline.
