The Ottawa Senators faced off against the St. Louis Blues on home ice on Tuesday night as part of the NHL's frozen frenzy night, and it's safe to say things did not go as planned.

The Senators were hoping to continue their extremely hot start to the season; unfortunately, they fell 7-2 in a very embarrassing fashion at the hands of the Blues.

Senators lose in embarrassing fashion on Frozen Frenzy night

The Senators came into this game with a 4-1 record, looking like one of the best teams in the NHL. However, after tonight's 7-2 loss, there have been some concerns about how banged up the blue line is, and if so, it is a big reason as to why they lost so badly on Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, for Ottawa, things started off bad. They gave up a shorthanded goal in the first, and then by the end of the season, they were down 3-1. The lone bright spot within the first 40 minutes was when Claude Giroux picked up his first of the season.

However, the final frame was by far the worst for the Senators. They managed to give up four goals in just over eight minutes, not only putting themselves in a 7-1 hole but also showing little fight. Which is rather discouraging, considering how well they have played this season. There was one other bright spot in the game, which came with just under two minutes left in the game, when Fabian Zetterlund picked up first of the season.

Outside of that, that was all for the Senators. It was an embarrassing loss on a night that their former captain Brady Tkachuk scored a natural hat trick in eight minutes against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Now that the game is in the rearview, there are some questions that still need to be answered, but none bigger than what are the Senators going to do about their blue line? That is being decimated with injuries and has since preseason.
