The Ottawa Senators' 2026-27 schedule has been released, and there are a few notable changes.

First, this season is bringing back the 84-game season, which was last seen in the 1993-94 season. With the league expanding to 32 teams and potentially more, it gives teams a few more games to play; however, it does come with risks. Two more games at the end of the season means more chances for stars to get injured. It opens teams up to also sitting their stars for three-to-four games at the end of the year to prevent injuries. Which, although fans understand, no one really likes to see the stars out of the lineup.

It also means that we could see higher point totals and potentially even a few more games against your favourite teams' top rivals. Which is definitely exciting.

But for the Senators, what exactly does their schedule look like? Well, this is going to be a catch-all for their new 84-game schedule. So, grab a coffee and enjoy.

Senators' 84-game schedule for the 2026-27 season

Well, it all starts on Oct. 3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Toronto at 7:00 PM. At that, the road trip continues with games against the Boston Bruins (Oct. 5) and the Detroit Red Wings (Oct. 6).

Once that mini road trip ends to start the season, they will host the Philadelphia Flyers at home, their home opener, on Oct. 8 at 7:00 PM.

Other notable things to keep an eye out for on the new schedule are:

  • Their longest homestand is six games spanning from Jan. 20 to Feb. 9. In that time they will play: the Maple Leafs, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins, the New York Rangers, and the Blue Jackets.
  • Their longest road trip of the season is five games, which they do three times. The first time it happens is Jan. 2 to Jan. 12th. Then again from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22, and the last time is from Mar. 24 to Apr. 2.
  • The season is set to end April 10th, against the Montreal Canadiens.
  • The Senators will play 13 back-to-backs. Their first one is on Oct. 5th and 6th, and their last one is Apr. 7th and 8th. They play the most in the months of Oct. and Feb., with three each.
  • They play against their biggest rivals, the Maple Leafs and Canadiens, four teams each. Their meetings against the Leafs are Oct. 3, Jan. 20, Feb. 13, and Mar. 27. They play the Canadiens on Dec. 6, Mar. 13, 24, and Apr. 10.
  • Their first game against Brady Tkachuk is on Oct. 21, at home. Which is the 10th game of the season. They will then go on to play them three other times, Nov. 25, Jan. 18, and Mar. 18.
  • A notable change is the Christmas break; they typically would get Dec. 23-26 and resume playing on Dec. 27. However, this year, it is only from Dec. 23 to 25, and teams start back up again on Boxing Day (Dec. 26). This could be the precursor to the NHL trying to get games played on Christmas Day in the next CBA. However, in the Senators' case, their last game is Dec. 20, and they return to play on Dec. 27 against the New York Islanders.
  • NHL All-Star Weekend returns and will take place on Feb. 5 and 6 at the Islanders' UBS Arena. The Senators' last game before All-Star Weekend on Jan. 30 and their first game after on Feb. 9.
  • On Dec. 18 and Dec. 20, the Senators and Chicago Blackhawks will head to
  • Düsseldorf, Germany, to play two regular season games.

  • Lastly, the Senators have two games that start early on Monday throughout the season. Nov. 30 (12:00 PM) and Dec. 14 (2:00 PM). That is allowing those games to be shown overseas in countries like Germany.
