The Ottawa Senators are entering the final game of the 2025-26 season against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. And, while they prepare for their first-round matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, they received some more injury updates on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Senators are going to be getting some defensive reinforcements back during the first round. But they also will be without a veteran. for the entire playoffs.

First, the positive news surrounding Tyler Kleven. He is expected to return at some point during the first round.

Kleven suffered an upper-body injury but has since been skating and could be back within the next two weeks.

The 24-year-old had three goals and 18 points for 21 points in 70 games this season. He also had 126 hits and 94 blocks. Which goes to show just how physically valuable he could be in the playoffs.

Next, the bad news. The Senators will be without defensemen Nick Jensen for what is being reported as the entire playoffs.

After he underwent surgery to fix a torn meniscus in March. His recovery timeline was expected to be six weeks. Which all but rules him out for the entire playoffs.

The 35-year-old played in 61 games and had four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. He also had 65 blocks and 38 hits.

Unfortunately, good news always comes with bad news. For the Senators, yes, they are getting back Kleven, who will be a great help in the playoffs. But they are also going to be without one of their veteran blue liners who can be relied on.

The Senators face off against the Hurricanes in the first round, which is expected to get started this weekend.
