The Ottawa Senators came out firing on all cylinders in their second regular season game versus the Boston Bruins. Head coach Travis Green chose to keep a very similar line-up to the one that they iced in Toronto on Saturday night, which led the Senators to a 3-2 victory at Scotiabank Arena. There, Thomas Chabot led the way with a 2-point (1 goal, 1 assist) night. Tonight, however, it’s all about two key players who began the night on two separate lines but were matched throughout the game: Tim Stützle and Michael Amadio.
Late last season, head coach Travis Green began experimenting with putting Tim Stützle more on the penalty kill, and tonight, this move paid off early and often. Stützle opened the scoring off of a slick feed from Michael Amadio while shorthanded. Less than two minutes later, he scored again off of another 2-on-1 just as the penalty kill expired with non-other than Michael Amadio again. If the penalty kill showed us anything, it showed us that these two players could have the chemistry that we have been waiting for.

Another great play by Amadio; these two have found a connection. pic.twitter.com/OzQK0gG9q8
Scoring spectacle
Stützle, who now has a career high of 9 goals on Jeremy Swayman for his most against any goalie, had one of his best games where he really highlighted not only his offensive power but also his extremely precise defensive game. Amadio is one of the most underrated players in the National Hockey League whose high hockey IQ seems to perfectly complement Stützle’s speed and talent. Together, they may be a one-two punch for the Senators' top line.
Throughout the first two periods of the game, the pair was an offensive powerhouse and put up a combined total of three goals and two assists. They also have seven points in two games against two Atlantic Division rivals. Senators fans have been waiting patiently for a winger to match the levels that Stützle can reach, and although there were hopes of the organization going big-game hunting this past off-season for a winger like JJ Peterka, it seems like they may have the answer in-house.
