This is it, Game 82. My goodness, this season has gone so fast. Unfortunately no playoffs this year, but that’s okay. It’s been a fun season, and what a way to close things out, against Craig Anderson and the Buffalo Sabres. Here is your SenShot Gameday Preview:

Ottawa Senators Notes

This will be the final game of the season for the Ottawa Senators, they hope to close out the season in style.

The Sens have won back-to-back games, against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Claude Giroux hit 1000 points last game against the Carolina Hurricanes in the Sens final home game of the season. He currently has scored 34 goals and 44 assists for 78 points in 81 games. It is his 1100th NHL game.

Tim Stutzle currently sits at 38 goals and 50 assists for 88 points, if he scores two points tonight he would be the first Ottawa Senator to score 90 points since Jason Spezza did it in 2007-08.

Maxence Guenette will be suiting up in his NHL debut tonight as he was called up and Jacob Bernard-Docker was sent back to the AHL.

Mads Sogaard will get the start tonight, he has performed well in his time in the NHL this season and will try to give management a hard time in deciding the goaltending tandem entering next season.

Buffalo Sabres Notes

The Buffalo Sabres have also missed the playoffs this season, it is their 12th consecutive season without making the playoffs.

Season Series: This is the fourth and final matchup between these two teams, the Senators lead the season series two games to one.

The Buffalo Sabres are coming off of a loss against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Craig Anderson is expected to make the start in net tonight. This could very well be Andy’s last NHL game as he is expected to announce his retirement at the end of the season.
