Ottawa Senators Notes

The Ottawa Senators have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but they still have three games remaining. The rest of the season will be focusing on development and deciding which pending free agents should be offered new contracts.

Austin Watson was not on the ice today for morning skate, as he is out with an injury.

Claude Giroux is three points away from hitting 1000 NHL Career Points.
None of the eight players on the injured reserve will play for the remainder of the season. It can be wondered if there will be callups from the AHL in order to give some opportunities.

Cam Talbot was in the starter’s end today after being scratched in the loss against Florida on Thursday. He is expected to start tonight. Leevi Merilainen was sent back to the AHL.

Tampa Bay Lightning Notes

The Tampa Bay Lightning have struggled as of late, currently being on a two game losing streak against the New York Rangers and New York Islanders.

Captain Steven Stamkos recently played in his 1000th career NHL game. He currently has 33 goals and 47 assists for 80 points in 78 games so far this season. He is at 1052 career points. He’s certainly headed to the hall of fame once he decides to call it a career. Stamkos was picked first overall in the 2012 NHL Draft, that was held in Ottawa.

Brayden Point is two goals away from reaching his first 50 goal season of his career. He’s also two points away from trying his career high of 92 points, which he set in 2018-19.
