GAME RECAP: Ottawa Senators Beat Tampa Bay Lightning 7-4

As the Ottawa Senators begin to look at next season, they matched up against the Tampa Bay Lightning in their 80th game of the season. The Ottawa Senators won 7-4.

First Period

Drake Batherson opens the scoring as he scores his 22nd goal of the season with 19:30 left in the period

Steven Stamkos ties things up with 17:09 left to play in the period.

Julien Gauthier scores his 9th goal of the season with 8:59 left to play in the period. in order to put the Sens back in the leads 2-1.

The Sens are ahead 2-1 after 20. Shots are 7-6 in favor of the Senators.

Second Period

Patrick Brown adds to the lead as he scored with 13:39 left to play in the period. It is his fourth goal of the season.

Brandon Hagel scored with 6:22 left to play in the second to cut the deficit to 1. 3-2.

Victor Hedman scores to tie things up at three with 5:54 left to play in the period.

Tim Stützle restored the lead, but the play was called offside. The game remains tied at 3.

Alex DeBrincat scores on the powerplay with 16.1 seconds left in the period. It is his 27th goal of the season as the Senators are leading 4-3.

The Second Period ends with a  4-3 lead for the Sens, with the Senators leading in shots 22-16.

Third Period

Egor Sokolov scores his first career NHL goal as the Senators expand their lead with 17:53 left to play in the game. 5-3.

Brayden Point cuts the deficit to one with his 49th goal of the year with 13:59 left in the game. 5-4.

Mark Kastelic adds to the lead with his seventh goal of the season with 9:11 left to play as the Senators are leading 6-4.

Claude Giroux scores his 32nd goal of the season and point 998 in his career with seconds left to play.

The game ends with the Ottawa Senators winning 7-4.

The Ottawa Senators will next play against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday at 7 pm.
