Ottawa Senators Notes
There will be a pregame ceremony celebrating Derick’s Brassard’s 1000 NHL games. He reached the 1000 games against the New York Rangers on Thursday, and scored two goals.
It is Pride Night tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre. There will be pride-coloured t-shirts for fans at their seats.
Tonight will be Jakob Chychrun’s first home game with the Ottawa Senators. The Sens acquired Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday.
Many defensive pairings have been tried at today’s morning skate. It appears as if Chychrun will remain on the third pair as the Senators hope to slowly ease him in. Before Thursday, he had not played hockey in over three weeks. He is expected to play with Erik Brannstrom this evening. Coach DJ Smith says that Chychrun will soon see top 4 minutes as this next road-trip plays on.
Tim Stützle could score his 30th goal of the season tonight, should he accomplish this it will be his first 30 goal season of his career. Stützle is second on the team in points with 64 so far this season.
Cam Talbot was in the starter’s end for the morning skate today. Expect him to start in net.
Austin Watson did not receive any supplemental discipline for his hit on Tyler Motte. He was ejected from the game, and has since reached out to Motte to apologize for the hit.
