The Ottawa Senators win against the Detroit Red Wings, Monday 27th, 2023.

The Ottawa Senators begin a back-to-back series against the Detroit Red Wings at home. The Senators won in convincing fashion, defeating the Red Wings 6-2, and dominating in all aspects of the game.

First Period

With 8:12 left to play in the period, Tyler Bertuzzi scores off a bit of a breakaway.

The period ends 1-0 for the Detroit Red Wings. Shots are 15-9 favoring the Ottawa Senators.

Second Period

Jake Sanderson ties things up on the powerplay with 16:19 left. It is his 4th goal of the year. Claude Giroux and Derick Brassard are credited with the assists.

David Perron restores the Red Wings lead on the powerplay with 14:49 left to play.

Drake Batherson scores on the powerplay to tie things up at 2 with 7:35 left in the period. Thomas Chabot and Alex DeBrincat get the assists. It is his 19th goal of the season.

Claude Giroux gives Ottawa the lead for the first time tonight on a breakaway. He has 9 goals in his last 13 games. It is his 24th goal of the year. Assists go to Dylan Gambrell and Thomas Chabot.

Brady Tkachuk adds to the lead with 2:19 left to play in the period. No look pass from Claude Giroux, fed to him by Artem Zub. It is Tkachuk’s 25th goal of the season. 4-2

Period ends 4-2 for the Sens. Ottawa leads in shots 31-18.

Third Period

47 seconds into the third, Thomas Chabot scores off of a feed from Claude Giroux. 4 point night for Giroux. This is Chabot’s 9th goal of the year. Zub has his second point of the night. This also gives Chabot a three-point game.

Tim Stützle scores his 27th of the year, upping the score to 6-2 with 5 minutes left to play in the game. It is an unassisted goal. Stutzle has now reached 60 points for the first time in his NHL career.

The game ends with the Senators winning 6-2. The three stars of the game are Brady Tkachuk, Thomas Chabot, and Claude Giroux.
